"Paramilitaries" kill four farmhands
------------------------------------
Four peasants, among them three members of a family, were murdered by a
paramilitary group, which had implicated them as collaborators of the
guerrilla group that operates in eastern Antioqia.
The brothers Jairo, Juan de Dios and German Antonio Castrillon Aguirre,
along with their neighbor Alonso de Jesus Duque, were kidnaped on Thursday
evening by armed men who arrived in La Enea, in Guarne, a mere 25
kilometers from Medellin.
Their corpses were located yesterday by the police in a rural spot, at the
boundary between Guarne and Barbosa.
From the accounts collected from the population it was confirmed that the
paramilitaries, having arrived at the residences of the peasants, dragged
them out by force and carried them off where they were finally shot to
death.
Furthermore, in the banana-growing region of Magdalena, three peasant
were shot to death by unknown perpetrators on Friday night, during an
armed intrusion into several farms.
The victims were identified as Luis Segundo Munive, 44, Luis Taborda
Cabrera, 48, and Nelson Oliveros Lopez, 32, known in the region by the
nickname "Lamparo". The dead were farmhands in the banana plantations and
residents of Rio Frio, in the municipality of Cienaga.
According to information from the authorities, the peasants were dragged
from their residences by a group of armed men that carried them off to
where they were later found murdered, at the Troncal de Oriente.
The police in the Second District, with headquarters in Cienaga, has
launched an operation to capture the perpetrators.
