Guess Who's Coming to Ottawa? ......Yes, it is the Hemisphere's Air Force Chiefs -- And they probably DIDN'T want people like you (who KNOW what is happening in Latin America) to spoil their fun

The Complete Schedule for the Latino Generals' visit to Ottawa is attached.

Join us in drawing attention to the presence in Ottawa of the Conference of
the Chiefs of the Air Forces of the Americas (CONJEFAMER). That includes
ALL of the air force generals of South, Central and North America! (Of
course Cuba is not included.)

Candlelight Vigil for the Victims of CONJEFAMER on Sunday May 31, 8:00
p.m. in front of the Conference Centre (across from the Chateau Laurier, on
Wellington St.)

At this vigil, the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT) plans to
project slide and/or video images of Central American children's art
(depicting aerial bombardments) onto the exterior wall of the conference
centre where the Generals will be meeting, June 1 - 3. At the May 31 Vigil,
we will also cross the street to the Westin Hotel, where the Generals and
wives will be having their "Welcome to Canada" dinner. This is hosted by the
Canadian Aerospace Industries. After 8 p.m. they have the rest of their
evening free and we may see them leaving for a stroll around the market.
They may see us having a vigil.

The Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade is also setting up displays at the
National Capital Air (War) Show, May 30-31. Join us in leafletting the
crowds. We will also have a display inside the air show of children's
paintings from Central America, depicting warplanes bombing villages, etc.

We need your help to get the word out to as many people as possible.

This is a rare opportunity to cross paths with some of Latin America's most
notorious generals. See the schedule for opportunities to meet them.

We are encouraging individuals and groups to take advantage of these
opportunities to make their non-violent messages of peace, human rights
and democracy heard by these air force generals.

I suggest that everyone make it to the vigil AND if you have further energy,
resources etc. then plan another non-violent action. Do the media for your
action yourself, but let COAT know what you're doing so that if several
groups are planning something at the same time, we'll let you know. We can
also do a more general media release with all of the actions on
it. If you want us to include you in such a general press release, let us know.

I think that confronting the generals as they attend the military trade show
is also very important as their connections with Canadian businesses
selling military hardware is more significant than their interest in
"normal" shopping or sight seeing. If anyone wants to join with COAT folks
in this effort please let me know.

Without further ado, here is the schedule for the Conference of the Chiefs of
the Air Forces of the Americas (CONJEFAMER)
