Dear Mr. Laun:

Thank you for your letter and informative annual report for the Colombia 
Support Network .  I applaud the important work of CSN to raise awareness 
of human (rights) violations and the need for continued environmental 
protection to preserve precious natural resources.  

Unfortunately, I will not be able to commit any financial support to your 
organization in the CountyÕs 1999 budget.  This decision is based on fiscal 
constraints only and does not diminish the recognition, value, or 
commitment from my office in terms of future support to the sister 
community relationship between the municipality of Apartad— and Dane 
County.
