Urgent: Piedad Cordoba de Castro Abducted
URGENT ACTION REQUESTED

Today, May 21, about about 12:45 pm PIEDAD CORDOBA DE CASTRO, a senator from the Colombian parliament, was kidnapped in Medellin. She is a committed defender of human rights, of the rights of women, and of the cause of peace in Colombia.

She was leaving a clinic where she had a medical appointment when she was approached by a group of 15 armed men who did not identify themselves. It is not clear if the authors of the kidnapping were paramilitaries or guerrillas. These circumstances lead us to fear very much for her safety. For that reason we ask yoiu to write letters or send faxes demanding that she be immediately release and also that her physical well-being be respected.
