Witness to Covert Military Acts Assassinated on His Way to San Jose de Apartado

1. Today at approximately 16:00 hours, Mr. Ferney Alvarez was
murdered, at 100 meters from the place known as “Tierra Amarrilla”,
located between the Mangolo neighborhood and the urban boundary of the
county seat, San Jose de Apartado. FERNEY, a driver of a public
transport vehicle, was forced to get out of his car by two masked men
dressed as civilians, with knives. After verbally abusing him,
they forced FERNEY to turn his back, they proceeded to shoot him five
times.
2. On March 30, FERNEY was driving the vehicle from which GILMA
ROSA GRACIANO and ORFIDIA SANCHEZ were taken. The first of whom was
murdered that same day, in an act done by the same men who killed FERNEY
today.
3. This murder occurred exactly the same morning in which the
meeting of the Investigative Commission to find the facts on the July
8 Massacre of 2000 took place, and on the same day in which the Peace
Community demanded that the Colombian State lift the economic
blockade under which the inhabitants of San Jose De Apartado find themselves..To
implement the Human Rights policies of the Colombian State with
speed and effectiveness of the investigations in which 41 testimonies
have been given. To confront the structures that have generated
so much terror and systematic violations of Human Rights with
sanctions and punishments for the number of crimes, indiscriminate bombardments,
tortures, and forced disappearances that is already almost reaching
100.
