The Comunidad de Paz de San Jose de Apartadó denounces the assassination of one of its members, Elkin Sepulveda, on Saturday, October 24 at 10 p.m.
The assassination took place just 15 minutes from the town center of San José. He was captured by several armed men and shot in the head.
This event signals a clear disrespect for our process and decision to maintain neutrality in this conflict. We want to remind people that we continue to be stigmatized and threatened by the armed actors: army-paramilitaries and the guerrilla.
In spite of the threats and assassinations we continue to be firm in our decision to remain autonomous in the middle of the war and to say NO to the armed actors. Elkin's memory, like many of the victims in this process, is a permanent part of our daily lives and will be a beacon of hope to construct alternatives to the barbarity of the armed actors who will not deter our path of peaceful resistance in the war.
You continue to be with us, Elkin, thank you
