San Jose de Apartadó

YES! I would like to become an International Member of the San Jose de Apartadó Comunidad de Paz, to show my solidarity with the people in this small hamlet in northwest Colombia, who have made a committment to a nonviolent solution to the terror facing them.

1. I will send faxes requesting the following:
   • That the paramilitary checkpoint leading to San Jose be eliminated at once.
   • Requesting an investigation as to why the Colombian army has done nothing to stop the paramilitaries and their checkpoint.
   • Protecting the rights of the BALSAMAR cooperative members to carry on normal cooperative functions.
   • Protecting the equipment of the BALSAMAR cooperative from confiscation by outside interests.
2. I will ask U.S. officials whether U.S. military aid or assistance has been used in the attacks on civilians by Colombian security forces or paramilitaries)
3. I support Peace Community's commitments
   • Not to participate in the war in direct or indirect form
   • Not to carry arms
   • Not to manipulate or give information to any of the parties involved in armed conflict
   • Not to ask any of the parties to solve conflicts
   • Each one commits him/herself to search for a peaceful solution and to a dialogue for solving the conflict of Colombia
