CSN Newsletter Winter 2019

The Winter 2019 Action on Colombia Newsletter reports first on CSN’s Fall 2018 Delegation to Colombia. Eunice Gibson, retired Madison City Attorney and CSN Board member, writes on the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), the linchpin of the troubled Colombian Peace Agreement; CSN Board member David Kast gives his summary and analysis of the delegation’s meetings with the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó and other meetings in Medellin and Bogotá. An article follows by Professor Al Gedicks on resistance to metallic mining plans threatening water resources and indigenous sacred lands in Michigan and Wisconsin, struggles also currently happening in Colombia and elsewhere.  Finally, Program Director Jack Laun writes on recommendations for action to promote peace in Colombia.
